frequently asked q’s

how do i clean pottery?

all of my functional ware is dishwasher safe, unless specified in the item description. hand washing with a soft sponge is the most friendly way to clean my pots.

is your pottery food safe and microwave safe?

all of my functional dinnerware is food- and dinnerware-safe. any piece that could be mistaken for dinnerware that is not food safe will be clearly noted in the item description.

all dinnerware is also microwave safe unless otherwise specified in the item description.

what is the notch on the bottom of your cups?

i add the notch in all my foot rings of functional ware to prevent pots from suctioning to counters. the notch also helps drain water from the foot ring after washing.

plus i like how it looks when all my wares are lined up together :)

do you offer local pickup?

yes! if you live in the seattle area, i would actually prefer it.

during check out, please note that you would prefer local pickup. also include your preferred method of communication for us to coordinate: email or instagram dm.

do you sell your pieces anywhere other than your website?

sometimes! i occasionally participate in local markets or will have a piece on sale on consignment in seattle. i also have a spot in my studio’s annual holiday sale, where wares by many talented artists will be for sale at seward park clay studio.

any piece that is available for purchase elsewhere will not be listed on this site.

follow my instagram to be notified when i’m selling at a market or through another business.

do you do commission work or wholesale?

i’m open to requests for either. my ability to fulfill depend on how whether your request aligns with my person style and the amount of production work involved.

email me at ryinceramics@gmail.com to request custom work.

what percentage of sales are donated and how are groups chosen?

after the cost of clay and other materials is covered, i will donate up to 40% the remaining sales to pcrf and local mutual aid groups in seattle. the actual % amount depends on vending fees, shipping, etc.

groups that i donate to are chosen based on issues that i’m most aware of, or issues that feel close to home.

if you’re ever curious about where exactly the money is going or would like to suggest an organization, please reach out!
